Anderson complexes: Bound states of atoms due to Anderson localization
نویسندگان
چکیده
Atoms can form molecules if they attract each other. Here, we show that atoms are also able to bound states not due the attractive interaction but because of destructive interference. If potential changes in a disordered way with change distance between two atoms, Anderson localization lead formation exponentially localized states. While potentials do exist nature, be created laboratory by means random modulation time strength original and objects dub complexes realized.

Anderson Localization in Atoms
We investigate the celebrated analogy [1] between Anderson localization phenomena in condensed matter physics [2] and related effects in the ionization process of driven Rydberg atoms, and put them on a quantitative footing. The atomic system we consider for a comprehensive numerical analysis of its ionization properties is a highly excited hydrogen atom exposed to a monochromatic electromagnet...
متن کاملMicrowave-driven atoms: from Anderson localization to Einstein's photoeffect.
We study the counterpart of Anderson localization in driven one-electron Rydberg atoms. By changing the initial Rydberg state at fixed microwave frequency and interaction time, we numerically monitor the crossover from Anderson localization to the photoeffect in the atomic ionization signal.

From the start of their studies students in condensed matter physics are exposed to ordered systems. These systems can be very simple and give insight into the physics of many materials. However it seems that much of what is learned in ordered systems cannot be brought to disordered systems. Instead new conceptual understandings much be reached will very different consquences. One of these is t...

NATURE PHOTONICS | VOL 7 | MARCH 2013 | www.nature.com/naturephotonics 197 The scattering of waves due to disorder is ubiquitous throughout nature. Examples range from the scattering of light as it passes through clouds or sugar to the scattering of sound waves in the presence of fluctuations. These phenomena have intrigued scientists for centuries. However, a major breakthrough in the understa...
